WE ARE STILL IN TEST MODE - PLEASE LEAVE ANY BUG REPORT ON THE BLOG PAGE!!!!
I’d like to welcome all to the MAPICS the Magazine web site. This site contains all the magazines I published from October 1986 to June 1988 and the first one published by Anna Jones in July 1988. Let me tell you how to navigate this site.
Navigation of The Magazines
You can click on a magazine below and it will appear in its own window. It takes a bit of time to load the magazine and we are working on getting it done quicker, but it is what it is.
Once the magazine appears you can click on the Full Screen X location and you will see the magazine full screen. Then use the roller on the mouse to increase or decrease the page size so you can read it. Because it’s a .pdf file you can Right Click and Hold to move the page around.
The rest of the site tells you a bit about me and any future articles I will publish. They will most likely be articles I wrote in the past bunch of years, but they will all talk about manufacturing and the use of MRP/ERP/MRO systems software. MAPICS was originally IBM's first total MRP system designed in modules for the IBM System 34/36/38.
MAPICS stands for Maunfacturing Accounting Inventory Control System and while the magazine was dedicated to the IBM software, it's goal was user's oriented and not IT oriented. The manual systems and procedures that were referenced in the magazine are required for any MRP/ERP/MRO softwaree implementation.
The "Top Ten Steps To Ship On Time" tab will take you to a book I have written that has nothing to do with MAPICS. It is a guide for any company to use while implementing any Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software.
You will notice I’m not a big fan of the IT people having anything to do with the use of whichever system you are running. I’m all about the “User’s” controlling the use of any system. IT should maintain the operation of the software on the hardware and not determine how the user should use the system.
I will probably be writing about my belief that any good Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software can be successfully used to achieve a company’s goal, the only goal. It’s not to support the software system, it’s to ship a quality product on time and make a profit doing so.
There is also a “Articles/Blog” section where you will be able read new articles or get to the BLOG Page to ask questions, just post opinions or just talk to each other in real time. You'll be able to share idea's, problems or solutions and I might put in my two cents worth too.
I hope you enjoy discovering MAPICS the MAGAZINE and please let me know what you think. You can do so on the BLOG Page or my email address is email@example.com
